Expect a warm welcome as well as helpful customer service from our friendly, outgoing, knowledgeable staff. Head Golf Pro Nick Isom has been at the helm of TPC since October 2014. “I feel lucky to be able to work at a Tour-caliber golf course in the TPC network,” Nick says. “TPC Myrtle Beach is probably in the top 3–5% of golf courses in the area in terms of the value golfers receive: what we charge and what they expect.” Before joining TPC Myrtle Beach, Nick worked at Pawleys Plantation, and before that, Litchfield Country Club.
A native of the Washington, D.C., area, Nick says that golf has been a passion his whole life (and is also a hockey fan). He played a lot of golf as a child but it was in college at Virginia Tech that his commitment to the game solidified. There he played at the on-campus 18-hole course almost nonstop. “Being able to play for 6 dollars all day did not help my studies,” Nick confesses.
He majored in statistics but after three years realized that his passion lay elsewhere. So he stepped away from college, moved back home, and started working in the restaurant industry two blocks from the White House. Work burnout led him to reassess his priorities and get in touch with his real passion.
Nick moved here in 2007 to attend the Myrtle Beach Golf Academy. He is a Golf Academy of America graduate – class of 2008. In March 2014 Nick was elected to the PGA of America, a tribute to his expertise in the business and game of golf.
1st Assistant Golf Pro Chad Sullivan has been at TPC since January 2013. When asked what it is like working at TPC Chad said, “Working at a golf course like TPC Myrtle Beach is awesome. The course is fantastic and just having the opportunity to be a part of a tour-caliber operation is second to none and a huge opportunity.” Chad grew up in Massachusetts playing a lot of baseball and hockey, but never really took up golf until after high school. “A few buddies of mine and me decided to get a college membership at a local country club one summer, golf looked fun. I got bit by the golf bug and we played every day we could.” Chad attended college in Massachusetts majoring in Criminal Justice, but after working part time at the local golf course he decided it was time for a career change. “I grew such a passion for the game and everything that golf is about, I figured hey why not make a career out of it?” Chad moved to Myrtle Beach, SC with his fiancée and completed the golf course operation & management program at the Golf Academy of America. Before joining the staff at TPC, Chad previously worked at True Blue Golf Club & Blackmoor Golf Club. He is now completing his PGA Apprenticeship and hopes to continue to advance in the golf business.
